FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 – So Foot Magazine

So Foot Magazine commisioned Artist Cristiano Siqueira to illustrate a special edition magazine cover for their June 2018 issue about FIFA World Cup Russia 2018. Cristiano drew inspiration from vintage Russian propaganda posters.

As a result, Siqueira used a warm color palette and gritty textures. The soccer players are in heroic poses with inspiring expressions. In addition, national flags of the featured players are proudly displayed. All of these elements blend together to make a unique set of illustrations.

Cristiano created individual illustrations of Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Pogba, Neymar and Salah for the commissioned cover. All in all, the June 2018 issue of So Foot Magazine is adorned by five beautifully-illustrated World Cup competitors. Siqueira used gritty textures and a bold, vibrant color scheme to create powerful imagery.

Cristiano is known for his detailed illustrations and this is no exception. Conversely, these illustrations are incredibly detailed and photo realistic. Somehow still, Siqueira’s illustrations remain energetic and animated. Illustrating faces can be one of the most difficult things to do, yet Cristiano Siqueira seems to do it with ease. His portrait artwork stands apart from the rest due to the high level of detail and accuracy.

Cristiano cares about every little detail in his work. The brilliant use of fine-line detail and layered color-pallette shading allow his illustrations to shine. It is no surprise that So Foot Magazine reached out to Siqueira to illustrate their FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 issue.
