Nache Ramos is an illustrator and graphic designer from Valencia, Spain. His design style draws inspiration from pre-golden-age vintage comic book art, pulp fiction magazine covers, and classic b-movie horror posters. Unlike other modern illustrators, Ramos only recently made the switch from analog to digital drawing. However, years of dedication to hand-drawing, inking, and scanning artwork paid off.
Nache’s impeccable illustrations juxtapose beautiful vintage comic book art with sardonic overtones and gritty grunge textures. Additionally, the use of halftone patterns and washed out colors give the designs depth and timelessness. Interestingly, this design aesthetic matches up perfectly with the attitude of skate-, surf-, and snowboarders alike. Much of Ramos’s vintage comic book art adorns surfboards for the “shrednecks” over at Wi-Me Snowboards.
However, when Nache isn’t illustrating some shred-worthy board art, he’s keeping himself busy with his own passion projects. This past summer, when Nache made the jump to a completely digital design process, he decided to design something close to the heart. With this scary new process in place, Ramos went back to his roots to design vintage comic book art posters for horror and sci-fi monster movies that impacted his childhood.
As evident through his artwork, Ramos was influenced heavily by classic sci-fi and horror films throughout the years. Movies like The Thing, House on Haunted Hill, The Time Machine, and Alien marked Nache Ramos for life. It was time he gave back to the films that influenced him so much.
Let’s take a closer look at these comic-style movie posters as we heed Nache’s advice: “Be good and be careful with monsters.”

Pretty impressive illustrations, right? Although I must say, I find two Kurt Russell illustrations to be far too few.
Looks like we’ll just have to sit around and wait for Nache to illustrate the rest of his career, from Stargate to Captain Ron.
But, while we’re waiting, why don’t you check out these OTHER amazing digital illustrations – “Tropical Japan” by Daniel Castrillón!
