We got our first look at the upcoming Chance The Rapper movie, Slice, last October when A24 released their first teaser trailer. Just over a minute long, the video mainly follows the animated journey of a pizza-delivery stick figure as he rides through an increasingly treacherous landscape of lines, à la the game “Line Rider.” All the while, an 8-bit version of “In The Hall of the Moutain King” plays in the background, building suspense.
The film’s production and distribution company, A24, is well known for releasing amazing independent films like Ex Machina, The Witch, Lady Bird, and The Disaster Artist. However, most recently, A24 saw huge success with the indie hit, Eighth Grade (comedian/musician Bo Burnham’s directorial debut)
Slice not only marks a Chance The Rapper movie debut, but it also marks another directorial debut. Austin Vesely, known best for directing a few of Chance The Rapper’s music videos, is set to direct the upcoming 2018 horror-comedy, which he also penned.
The film follows two brave pizza delivery boys who, after a string of slain recent pizza-delivery-boy incidents, decide to investigate the mysterious murders. In an attempt to catch the culprits – who (or what) ever they may be – a cast allegedly including Deadpool 2’s Zazie Beets (Domino) and Stranger Things Star Joe Keery (Steve) find themselves up against unbeatable and seemingly-supernatural odds. Paul Scheer also joined the cast.
Recently, design studio BOND released three pizza parody posters in anticipation for the film’s 2018 release. Although we do not have a release date, these clever promotional posters give us hope that the release date draws near. Featuring the tagline “Dead. In 30 Minutes Or Less,” these Chance The Rapper movie posters feature parody logos similar to three famous pizza chains. However, the logos aren’t exactly going to get anyone in the mood for some ‘za.
Torn, beaten, ripped up, and bloody; these parody logos have “seen some shit.” Pizza Hut is sliced and diced. Dominoes is bleeding out. Little Caesar got his damn head ripped off. Why would someone, or some thing, want to hurt our knights in shiny, greasy armor? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. According to Bloody Disgusting, we only have a week to wait before a full-length trailer is released.
Don’t want to wait an entire week for the Slice trailer? Do you need a horror-flick fix?
